How to prepare your participation in a trade show in Algeria
Goals, budget, stand, team, communication: the schedule and checklist to be ready on opening day and leave with qualified leads.
A trade show lasts three or four days, but it is won months before opening day. The companies that leave with qualified leads are rarely the ones with the biggest stand: they are the ones that prepared their participation as a real business project.
1. Set a measurable goal
Before booking a space, ask a simple question: what will make this show a success? Meeting distributors, launching a product, signing orders, hiring, building your image in a sector… Each goal calls for a different stand, message and team.
Turn it into numbers: meetings, qualified contacts, demonstrations. These markers will guide every choice and let you measure your return on investment.
2. Choose the right show and the right spot
Check that the show really attracts your target customers: visitor profile, previous exhibitors, sectors represented. Once the show is chosen, location matters as much as size: proximity to entrances and main aisles, a corner open on two aisles, your neighbours.
Book early. The best spots often go as soon as registration opens.
3. Build a complete budget
The price of the space is only part of the investment. Plan for:
- stand design and build;
- furniture, lighting, screens and power connection;
- communication: signage, brochures, giveaways, business cards;
- staff: hosts, technicians, translators if needed;
- transport, storage, accommodation and meals for the team.
Keep a margin for the unexpected: an extra power connection or a last-minute print job happen often.
4. Design a stand that serves your goal
A good stand is understood in three seconds from the aisle: who you are, what you offer, why stop. Favour a short message readable from a distance, an open space that invites people in, and a quieter area for business conversations.
Ask for a 3D render before the build: it is the time to fix visitor flow, product visibility or screen placement.
5. Prepare the team on the stand
Visitors judge your company by the people who welcome them. Hold a briefing before opening: goals, offers to highlight, answers to frequent questions, how to qualify a contact. Plan a rota so someone is always available.
6. Communicate before, during and after
Let customers and prospects know you will be there a few weeks ahead: email, social media, personal invitations. During the show, share photos and highlights. Above all, follow up with your contacts within the week: that is when most opportunities turn into business.
The schedule at a glance
- 3 to 6 months before: goal, choice of show, booking, budget.
- 2 to 3 months before: stand design, 3D render, supplier quotes.
- 1 month before: build, printing, invitations.
- The week before: team briefing, logistics, badges and setup times.
- After the show: follow-ups, figures, storage of reusable elements.
